Blepharoplasty

Frequently Asked Questions

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids to improve the appearance of the eyes. It can also correct drooping eyelids and reduce puffiness, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed look.

If excess skin is obstructing your field of vision, blepharoplasty can improve vision by removing the obstructions.

Results are long-lasting, but natural aging processes may continue to affect the appearance of the eyelids over time.

The recovery period after blepharoplasty typically takes about 1 to 2 weeks. Swelling and bruising may occur but usually subside within the first week. Most patients can return to light activities after 7 to 10 days, but it’s advised to avoid strenuous activities for 3 to 4 weeks.

After blepharoplasty, follow-up care includes keeping the surgical site clean, applying prescribed ointments, and attending check-ups for wound healing. Stitches are typically removed within 5 to 7 days. Swelling and bruising are common but can be managed with cold compresses. It’s important to avoid strenuous activities and protect the eyes from sunlight or irritants during the initial recovery phase. Following these guidelines ensures proper healing and the best results.
